CODE OF ETHICS
   
1.0 PREAMBLE
  Member firms of the FOUNDATION FOR DESIGN INTEGRITY are required to conduct their business in a manner that will inspire the design industry and the general public to honor and respect the proprietary rights of original design. It is the responsibility of every member to uphold this code of ethics, and to maintain a standard of business conduct that is consistent with this code.
2.0 RESPONSIBILITY TO THE PUBLIC
2.1 A Foundation Member shall conform to the existing laws, regulations, and codes governing business procedures and practices as established by the State or other jurisdiction in which the firm conducts business.
2.2 A Foundation Member shall not engage in any false or misleading advertising or promotional activities and shall not imply through advertising or other means that fraudulently claim a product to be their original design.
2.3 A Foundation Member shall not assist or abet improper or illegal conduct of anyone in connection with any activity that is inconsistent with the goals of the FOUNDATION.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY TO "THE ORIGINAL DESIGNER"
3.1 A Foundation Member will neither bid on any job nor accept any purchase order that involves the manufacture of a product that is the original design of another firm without first obtaining written authorization from the designer or license holder.
3.2 A Foundation Member will act with due diligence to ensure that products manufactured or sold are not in violation of the proprietary rights of the designer or license holder.
3.3 A Foundation Member will act with due diligence to prevent fraudulent misrepresentation of the identity of the original designer or license holder.
4.0 RESPONSIBILITY TO OTHER FOUNDATION MEMBERS
  A Foundation Member will report to the Executive Board of the FOUNDATION any act or conduct by another member of the FOUNDATION that is inconsistent with the goals of the FOUNDATION.
5.0 ENFORCEMENT
  The right to immediately terminate membership is reserved for the Executive Board which will determine that a member has ceased to comply with membership criteria provided that the concerned member is notified and afforded the opportunity to present its position in writing to the Executive Board before the decision is made.
